Autumn

Good Morning All!!!

First off, I would like to acknowledge all my new followers. Welcome and thanks for joining.......

Now for today's creation.  I chose to make an "Autumn" card.  This one was pretty simple I must say.  Here is just a few of the items that you will need: some cardstock, cuttlebug, Darice "tree" embossing folder, gold ribbon, and glitter glue.  So let's take a look shall we...............

Because the tree is larger than a standard A2 card.  I needed the size of my base card to be 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" in order for the tree to fit with a border.

The sentiment comes from TPC Studio "Autumn Harvest" clear stamps.  I stamped it on some light yellow cardstock with Memento tuxedo black ink.  Then I used my EK Large Label Photo to punch the sentiment out.

The tree was embossed using the Darice folder and cuttlebug.  I used a rusty color cardstock and sized it down after embossing.  The finished mat measures at 4" x 5 1/4".

After the embossing I outlined the tree with glossy accents.  When that was finished drying, I collect several different glitter colors for the leaves.  Alternating the colors (gold, burgundy, brown, and green), I only used a small amount on each leaf only to help with the accent.

I think the ribbon is from Michael's "Celebrate It Holiday Noel Navidad" design.  It surely seems to help with the accenting of my card.  I simply love the way it looks.  Don't you?

Hope

Since I am ahead of the game, I thought I would share with you another fantastic shape card.  This card is dedicated to all those "Breast Cancer Survivors'".

I used both my gypsy and the cricut cartridge "Forever Young" to make my shape card.  You will find the image on page 61 of the manual.    I first selected <Lingerie>, sized it to 4.25" and hid the pants and flower.  I also hid the outlines of the bra.  From there I copied, flipped and welded the image together.  This was cut out in a white shimmer cardstock.  From there I took the image <Lngrie-s> and again hid the pants and flower.  I cut it at 4.25" in a pink shimmer cardstock.

After attaching the images together.  I decided to give it some bling.  So I added lots of rhinestones.  Kind of reminds of going into Victoria Secrets store.

Now is when I chose to cut the flower from the image <Lngrie-s>.  I cut it at 4.25" with the same white shimmer cardstock as the main card.  I foam taped it to the center of the bra and glued the hot pink rhinestone.  I take it, the glue wasn't dry yet.  So I apologize for the glue dot in the photo.  From there I found a few petal shaped rhinestones.  Glued them under the flower.

Then to finish it up.  I found this stamp at Joann's over the weekend and wanted to use it on this card.  I used the pink Studio G ink.

Here are a few challenges I've entered into:

As promised here is the link to a video which explains everything in detail.....

1.  Card stock 4 1/4" x 11"
2.  Score corner to corner at an angle
3.  Fold on score and leave folded
4.  Score symmetrically (right down the center)
5.  Fold closed
6.  Decorate and embellish

Yep!  That's it!  The card creates two pockets.  One on the front and one inside.  My front pocket I chose to seal it.  But you can do whatever you would like.  Give it a try...........

If I can be of further help, email me.  Otherwise, thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!!  ~ Shawn

Pillow Box with tag

Good day all......  Today is starting off to be such a busy day.  Tonight is homecoming for my daughter and she is having several girls get ready at our house this afternoon.  I'm so excited to see these beautiful girls in their lovely dresses.  Will share pictures later........

Secondly,  I wanted to share with you that I was chosen as "Winner" on Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog.  If you haven't been over to their blog, please do so.  All you have to do is click on their name above and it will send you right over.  They have some amazing challenges.......

Finally, today I'm posting a pillow box with tag.  This a wonderful package to give to someone that is expecting a child.  So without further ado, here it is.

(This photo was taken outside on our patio table.  Sorry for the glare..)

I used the pillow box from cricut cartridge "Easter 2010".  On my gypsy I heightened the size to 10.5".  Hid the rabbit and cut in out with DCWV " Nana's Kids cardstock.  That was it......  I wrapped two different ribbons around and tide a bow.

For this cute monkey, I used the cricut cartridge "Life's a Party".  On page 36 of the manual, I cut <Monkey-s> (tan), and Layer (brown) at 4 1/2".

I added a small piece of black cardstock for the nose and added googly eyes.  For inside of the ears, I sponged Studio G pink ink.

I then chose to tie a green bow around the monkey's tail using a 3/8" ribbon.  On the back of this tag is where you can personalize the gift by adding to and from.  To attach this monkey to the pillow box, I just used his tail to wrapped around the orange color ribbon (see first photo).

Pink Elephant

Hi Everyone!!!  Today is my daughter's baby shower, so this post will be very short.

I made another baby card, however, this time it is a shaped card.  An elephant to be exact.  Take a look................

As you can see, there really is much explaining to do with this one.  However, I did use my gypsy and the cricut cartridge "Holiday Cakes".  You can find this cute little thing on page 38 of the manual.  I took image <Love2-s> and hid all parts.  I then copied, flipped and welded my elephant so she faces you from the right.  Her height is 4 1/4"  and was cut on white cardstock.  I then cut another elephant in pink polka dot paper from Recollection (6x6 - The Bright and Basic Pad).  Finally, I just cut out the ear in pink cardstock and attached it with foam tape.  Glued a googly eye and tied a white ribbon bow around her tail.

For the name "AVA".  I cut the letters at 1" in white cardstock using the Cricut cartridge "Something to Celebrate".  The "a" is located on page 42 and the "v" is located on page 55.  After cutting them, I sponged stamp pink ink from Studio G around the letters.  Attached them to the card with foam tape.  Then finalized them with pink liquid pearls.

OK, so off we go to my daughter's baby shower.  I sure hope she likes this card.  I can guarantee that no one else will arrive with the same card (lol).  Have a wonderful Saturday...... ~ Shawn

To Protect and Serve

Wow!!!  Can you believe it.  It's only Friday and here I am posting.  Did I fall off my rocker?  No... I've just come across some challenges that will be ending this weekend and I wanted to get them posted before I leave for my daughter's baby shower.

Today's card is dedicated to all our Law Enforcement.  I have to say this is a very difficult job.  My dad was a Los Angeles Police Officer.  I've not only seen, but I have also been with him driving through projects (high crime housing) when gun shots were fired.  The both of us never thought about anything else but getting ourselves out of there.  Trust me, my dad never meant to put me in that situation.  I love you dad!!!  You will always be remembered............

Then, I got married.  Who did I marry, you ask?  A Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff.  He too worked in a very high crime rate city (Palmdale,  California).  After several years with the department, he was medically retired due to a motorcycle accident while on duty.  I love you too, honey!!!

Recipe:

Brown cardstock (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")
Patterned Paper ( 3 3/4" x 5")
Goldenrod cardstock ( 3 1/2" x 4 3/4")
Everyday Paper Dolls (Police page 59 @ 5")
Rhinestones

Challenges I've entered this card into:

Twisted Tuesday - Labor of Love

Thanks for stopping by.  I do have a post tomorrow even though I won't be around.  So, please check back......  ~ Shawn

It's Time!!!!

Happy Labor Day Everyone!!!  Hope you all had a fantastic holiday weekend.  In light of "Labor Day", I'm dedicating my card to all the new mom's today.  Here's a peek:

Pink base card (4 1/4" x 5 1/2")
Yellow mat (3 3/4" x 5"); corner punched two corners and ran it through my cuttlebug with the folder divine swirls

I used the New Arrival cricut cartridge on this card. The mommy was cut at 4 1/2 inches. I cut four layers: 1 tan, 1 brown, 1 white and 1 patterned paper. The tan was used for the main figure. The brown was used for the hair.  The white was used for the purse and pants. I used the glitter stack for the patterned paper.

I wrapped white ribbon around the hat to give it a band look.  For the face, I took out my zig pens (blue and red) and lightly gave her a face.  Then I finished it up by swirling some pink chalk to give her face some color.

For her purse, I glue the white on the pattern paper and added a purple rhinestone.  Sorry for this picture not being clear.

Wrapped a wider green ribbon around the card and finished with a knot.  I added a pink button and weaved white DMC floss through the holes and completed it with a bow.  Glued the button down on top of the ribbon knot.

Now for my sentiment.  It is computer generated.  I used the says "It's time" because I don't ever recall saying "I'm in Labor".  So I printed it on some light blue cardstock and cut it with Spellbinders templates "Creative Page Tabs".  Distressed it with Tim Holtz "Tea Dye" and added baby blue liquid pearls.  Then I finished it off with more rhinestones in the corners of the main card.

As always, thank you all for stopping by and leaving me comments.  I don't always respond to every one of them.  But, I do want you all to know that I really do appreciate them.  Have a wonderful rest of the holiday day.  ~ Shawn

Peek A Boo

Tonight's post is a short one.  So here it is...............

Base card black (5 1/2" x 4 1/4")
Green Cardstock (5 1/4" x 4")
"We R Memory Keepers" Patterned Paper (5" x 3 3/4")

For my ghost I cut him out on white cardstock at 4" using "Happy Hauntings" Cricut cartridge.  I attached a small piece of black behind him to give his eyes and mouth.  Then I took Tim Holtz "Tea Dye" distressed ink and outlined him.

Then I wasn't sure what else to use.  So, I wrapped purple ribbon around three times and glued a yellow rhinestone in the middle.

Thank you again for stopping by and visiting.  I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend.

Also, for those asking about our safety with the fires.  They are finally coming to an end.  Thank you mother nature for the rain!!!  ~ Shawn

Eek!!!!!!!

I know, I'm early with this one.  However, with all these fires we've been having and the smoke that just never seems to leave.  We've been having a few more visitors then usual.  So in honor of them, I've decided to dedicate this card to them.

I chose to use the following sketch from Freshly Made to help with this creation.

So, let's take a look.......................

The card base is black cardstock scored in half to make a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".  The pattern papers are from We R Memory Keepers "Halloween" scrapbook pad.  The lined pattern was cut at 1 3/4" x 4 1/4".  The green pattern was cut at 2" x 4 1/2".  The purple cardstock is from The Paper Company and was cut at 2 1/2" x 4".  I ran the purple through my cuttlebug using the swiss dots folder.  The picture below shows you a better look of the image.

Now, for the cricut cartridge.  I used October 31st to cut both images out.  The spider web was cut in black at 2 1/2".  The spider was also cut in black at 2".  I attached a small piece of orange cardstock to cover the section of the spider.  Then I used my orange stickles to add some glitter.  Again the picture below shows you a better look.

I glued very small rhinestones to the spider to make the eyes.  Glued a small length of DMC black floss to the back of the spider and foam taped him to the purple cardstock.  Add a couple more orange rhinestones to the corners and bam......  I was finished.

As always thank you so much for stopping by.  I would like to wish you a very safe and fun "Labor Weekend".  ~ Shawn
