CR84FN Color Challenge

Welcome back to Monday!!!  Again I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.  We ranged in the temperatures of 87 degrees all weekend.  Great time to weed out all the plants before fall truly arrives.  According to the weatherman, our high temperatures are about to change tonight.  We are expected to receive thunderstorms.  So hang on East coast, if our weatherman is right, it might head your way.

In spirit of fall, I once again chose to enter into another challenge by CR84FN.  They have asked us to incorporate the colors (yellow, orange, and brown) into our project.

Please use the 3 named colors: as your MAIN colors***

September Challenge - Photo Inspiration

It's finally Friday and I've once again decided to enter into another challenge.  This one is with Whimsie Doodles.  Welcome to their first of their new monthly challenges! This month, they are asking you to create a project that takes inspiration from the photo below. Your project could use the colors, theme, a single element, etc. from the picture.

Photo by Sally J. Shim. Used with permission. Original post HERE.

They can't wait to see what you create! Just link up to two (2) of your NEW creations, that have been created for five (5) or fewer other challenges, in the InLinkz tool at the bottom of their post. Please make sure it is a DIRECT Link, as they may delete any non-direct entries. If you are posting on a blog, a link back to their challenge post would be greatly appreciated. When posting in online galleries, they would love it if you could use 'whimsiedoodles' as a keyword. This challenge will close on
Sunday, September 25th at Midnight

One (1) lucky winner will be drawn at random to win a FREE Whimsie Doodles image, of their choice, from their  September release.  Good luck all!!!!!

So now let's get down to business.  Below is the card that I just made within seconds of this post.

I made this card as your standard A2 card using black as the main card.  I matted it with orange and then again with patterned cardstock from DCWV "the Fall Stack".  Added some black ribbon, orange buttons and black rhinestones.  The moon was free hand.  While the witch was an old die cut that I received several years ago and can't remember where I got it.  See how easy this was........

This card sure will be a sender for a family member or friend.  Thank you all again for stopping by.  I always appreciate all your comments as they are always welcomed.  In the meantime, have a fabulous Friday and a safe weekend!!!!!!

Happy Thursday!!!!!!!

Today I decided to enter the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge.  They have DRS Designs sponsoring this week.  Of course they are very excited about it.  If you're not familiar with DRS Designs you simply must check out their wide variety of stamps.  They are also a huge contributor to Operation Write Home.  They also have a really fabulous sketch to play along with.

Here's the sketch....

How to participate...

* A new challenge will be posted every Tuesday Morning, you have until the following Sunday, 8pm (EST) to create and post your entry. You may either post your entry on your blog or you may post to an online gallery.

* Please link your entry in InLinkz directly to your entry not your blog. Leave a comment, too.

* If you have any questions about the challenge or a "How'd they do that?" question for my design team, please email me.

* There is a weekly prize, I have a wonderful list of sponsors who are graciously and generously donating prizes. The winner will be chosen at random, with one exception that is explained below. The winner will be announced on Monday.

* One of the challenges per month will be judged by me and my design team. There will be a winner selected and 5 participants will be selected for the Top 5 category. The winner will receive the prize of the week from the sponsor and the Top 5 will receive a Top 5 badge for their blog.

* Their last and most important rule... have fun with this! And if you've had a great time, tell your friends about it.

Since some states, fall has already started to show up.  I chose to focus my card on fall.  I used kraft cardstock as the standard A2 card (5 1/2 x 4 1/4).  I used "the Fall Stack by DCWV" patterned paper cutting a 5 1/4 x 4: 2 1/2 x 3 1/4 from two separate designs.  Then I used the "Simply Delightful by My Minds Eye paper and cut a 3 1/4 x 4 square.  Finally I cut an additional square 2 x 2 3/4 out of regular cardstock.  Used my fiskars scallop border to cut around the patterned paper (2 1/2 x 3 1/4).  Stamped the word "Fall" and a "leaf" on the regular cardstock ( 2 x 2 3/4).  Adhered everything to the main card and finalized it all up by adding recollections pearl stickers.  Here is my "Fall" card:

Once again your comments are greatly appreciated.  Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to view my blog.  Have a wonderful Thursday!!!!

Happy 21st Birthday

Well, Lisa is off enjoying Washington DC and will head back home to Austria later this week.  Sure will miss having her around.  In the meantime, last friday, September 16, was our oldest daughter's 21st birthday.  Instead of making her a standard birthday card this year.  I decided to try and make her an explosion box.  I got the idea after searching up "explosion boxes" on youtube.  I watched a video from Mrscrappy1970.  However, he did not give instructions on how to make this explosion box.  So needless to say, I really liked the colors and decided to make my own using something similiar to his.  I also plan on entering my explosion box into the CR84FN38 Color Challenge.

Please use the 3 named colors: as your MAIN colors***

Bright Pink, Black and Gray
The beautiful color graphic was created using photos courtesy of Leslie at a creative mint

So here is what I came up with.......

This lid was made using black cardstock (7 1/8 x 7 1/8).

This is a side view of the explosion box.

This is what the box looks like inside.

This is a closer look of the inside.

Here is a view of the birthday cake with the inside panels.  There is a total of three panels per side.

This is a view of the second panel where my daughter can add pictures of her 21st birthday adventure.

This is the final panel for more pictures.

Another view of the entire explosion box.

I will not be listing all that I did to make this explosion box.  However, if you are interested in knowing how I made it.  Please feel free to drop me a message and I promise to get back to you with the details.  As always, your comments are greatly appreciated.  Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!!!!!!!

Hello Monday All!!!

It's been an exciting eleven days with our foreign exchange student Lisa from Austria.  Unfortunately tomorrow morning she will be departing from here to go to Washington DC and then off to home.  So for her farewell gift, we are giving her the following items:  Nacho Doritos, Oreo cookies and small elk globe with Montana on it.  We are putting everything into a blue bag, since that is her favorite color.  Below is the tag with envelope that we are attaching to the bag.

Below this is just the tag.  On the back is blue cardstock where my daughter will leave Lisa a personal message.  Sorry picture is slightly blurry......

And just below this is the tag detached from the envelope.

Finally, we have the envelope alone.

This project was very simple to make.  We used Michael's $1.00 Treasures by Shabby Chic, Flowers, and Butterfly.  Cut the card in half and adhered colored cardstock to the back.  Cut the envelope down to a 3x3 sleeve.  Adhered colored cardstock and edged with Fiskars "scalloped" punch.  Colored rhinestones with Bic "Mark It" permanent markers (fine) to match color in cardstock.  Presto!!!!!!  Your tag is completed......

Again, I want to thank you all for following me.  Have a very pleasant evening!
